North Central continued on its path toward another Region 3-AA volleyball crown as the Lady Knights handed conference foe Keenan a 3-0 loss in a match played Tuesday night at The Castle in Boonetown.The 25-23, 21-7 and 25-18 sweep gave Andy Johnson’s girls a 10-1 overall record and a 6-0 mark in Region 3-AA play.Junior outside hitter Madeline Pate led the Lady Knights with 23 digs, a dozen kills and eight aces. Freshman setter Logan Coates dealt out 30 assists to go along with 10 digs and three aces while junior outside hitter Erin Humphries had a big night at the net with 14 kills and nine digs.NC received a solid match from junior middle hitter Ambi Wood who had six kills and as many digs while recording two blocks and an assist. Junior Libero Rachel Robinson had 11 digs with junior middle hitter Ashley Turner smacking down four kills with as many digs.NC “Dig Pink” match features top five rivals: The North Central High School volleyball program will hold its annual “Dig Pink” match on Monday, Oct. 14 when rival Andrew Jackson invades The Castle in Boonetown.The host Lady Knights are ranked fifth in the most recent state class AA volleyball poll while AJ sits third in the rankings.The junior varsity match will kick things off at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity contest at 6:45 p.m.Fans are invited to come out as the two sides help in the crusade to eradicate breast cancer and raise awareness as to the disease.
