Lady Knights flatten Indian Land

That steamroller which is the North Central High volleyball team showed no signs of slowing down in a 3-1 win over Indian Land in a match played last Thursday in Lancaster.
North Central improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in Region 4-AA play with the 25-10, 23-25, 25-13, 25-12 victory over the host Lady Warriors.
Sophomore Logan Coates had another double-double with a 30-assist, 10-dig night for the winners. She added three aces and a kill. Senior outside hitter Erin Humphries also struck for double figures in two departments as she had 14 kills to go along with 13 kills. She added two aces and an assist.
Senior hitter Ambi Wood smacked down a team-best 14 kills while adding three digs and a block. Senior Madeline Pate had six kills while coming up with 10 digs and a pair of aces. Sophomore Kelsie Gardner had eight digs, an ace and a kill while junior Gracen Kerr had four kills and a dig for Andy Johnson’s troops.
Lady Knights host Carolina Challenge on Saturday: North Central will play host to 11 visiting varsity volleyball teams in Saturday’s ninth annual Carolina Challenge on Saturday in Boonetown.
Joining the host Lady Knights for the one-day event will be Andrew Jackson, Buford, Crestwood, Indian Land, Chesterfield, Wilson Hall, Lancaster, Hartsville, Robert E. Lee Academy, Gilbert  and Westminster-Catawba.
“The intent of this tournament is to have a competitive field that showcases our local teams from area counties,” said NC head coach Andy Johnson.
All teams will play in pool play beginning at 8:45 a.m. Saturday. The single-elimination tournament will begin at 1 p.m. and the championship game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
