North Central rebounded from three straight losses to even its Region 4-AA volleyball record at 1-1 following a 3-0 blanking of Chesterfield on Thursday night in a match played inside The Castle in Boonetown.

Andy Johnson’s troops made quick work of the Lady Rams in taking the first set, 25-11 before pinning a pair of 25-10 losses on the visitors in the second and third sets of the evening.

The victory game the Lady Knights a 3-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference action.

NC’s three-match slide started on Aug. 27 when the Lady knights traveled to Lancaster and fell to the AAA hostesses in three sets winning the opener, 26-24, before dropping the next two, 25-21 and 26024. Next up was a match against 4A Clover. Again, the AA guests took their larger opponent to a third set after NC won the first set, 25-16 only to lose the next two 25-18 and 27-25.

Last Tuesday, NC suffered its first conference setback since 2013 as Johnson and company were outlasted by visiting Buford, 3-2.

The evening opened with the hostesses cruising to a 25-13 win only to have the Yellow Jackets even things with a 25-19 victory in the second set before going on top, 2-1, by taking the third set, 25-23.

The Lady Knights forced a fifth-set tie-breaker by winning the fourth set, 25-20, only to see Buford rally to win the match by taking the fifth set, 15-11.

NC returns to Region 4-AA play this week when the Lady Knights travel to meet rival Andrew Jackson on Tuesday before returning to The Castle to take on Indian Land in a Thursday pairing.
