Lady Knights suffer first loss

It took a soon-to-be 4A foe to do it, but North Central’s volleyball team’s season-opening win streak came to an end in a 2-0 loss to Westwood on Tuesday night.The Lady Knights opened the evening with a 2-1 victory over Buford as they came home from the tri-match with a 4-1 record.Andy Johnson’t troops outlasted Buford, 25-27, 31-29 and 25-22 to improve to 4-0 on the season.Logan Coates had a big night with 12 digs, as many assists, two aces and a kill while Madeline Pate and Rachel Robinson had match-best 19 digs each. Pate added five kills and an ace with Robinson adding an ace and an assists. Jo Phillips had 15 digs, six assists and a trio of aces for the winners who received 11 kills each from Erin Humphries and Ambi Wood.
