Lady Knights sweep past Pelion

Three days after having won their own tournament, the North Central volleyball team kept on winning by sweeping three sets from visiting Pelion on Tuesday night inside The Castle in Boonetown.The 25-12, 25-6 and 25-17 win gave Andy Johnson’s squad a 6-1 overall record while hiking their region 3-AA mark to 2-0.Freshman Logan Coates is settling nicely into her role as setter and doled out 27 assists in the one-sided affair to go along with four digs a kill and an ace. Junior Rachel Robinson had a match-best 16 digs and a pair of aces while junior middle hitter Ambi Wood dominated along the net with 14 kills while adding an ace.Junior outside hitter Madeline Pate enjoyed another consistent night with nine kills, eight digs while also serving up a pair of aces. Fellow classmate and outside hitter Erin Humphries came through with an eight-kill, four digs and four ace match.Following a Thursday trip to Columbia to meet Eau Claire in a region pairing, the Lady Knights will return to the capital city to take on Columbia next Tuesday in a 6:30 p.m. start.
