Lions lock down second in 3-A with 8-6 win over Knights

North Central’s hopes for a first round class A state baseball playoff game all but went by the boards following Friday’s 8-6 loss at Lewisville.The defeat gave the Knights a 4-4 mark in Region 3-A, two games behind Lewisville with two league games left to be played. With the win, the Lions evened their season series with NC, which scored a 7-2 victory over LHS in Boonetown earlier this year.The Knights gave sophomore lefty Broderick Gaither a 3-0 lead, scoring three times in the top of the fourth. The hosts answered by scoring four times in their half of the inning before tacking on four more runs in the fifth to build their lead to 8-3.
