Making the most of eight hits, Lewisville pinned a 14-3 loss on North Central in a non-region baseball game played Monday night in Boonetown.
After the Lions scored a run in the top of the first, the host Knights responded with two runs in the home half of the first. Cam Holley triggered things with a one-out infield single. He scored on a Tyler Bowers triple to right field to even things at 1-1. Bowers gave NC the lead when he came home on Broderick Gaither’s sacrifice fly.
Lewisville took control of the game with a six-run in the top of the third. The Knights picked up another run in the third when Holley drew a one-out walk and scored on Gaither’s opposite field double to left.
The Lions tacked on one more run in the fourth and used a six-run fifth to extend their lead into double digits in a game stopped after five innings.
Gaither had two of NC’s five hits with a double and triple and two RBI while Bowers added a triple.
Lewisville took advantage of being walked eight times while using four Knight errors to take home the victory.
“Lewisville is a quality opponent,” said NC head coach Robbie Cash. “We just need to flush this game and get back to playing better in region play.”
