For as long as there have been house doors and kids, parents have told their children to close the door behind them so as not to let the cold air or animals into the house.Great Falls nearly left the back door open too long on Tuesday night, only to have Davina Patrick slam it shut just before North Central was all the way in the residence. The host Lady Knights used a 6-0 run in the closing minutes of this contest to trim what was a 36-28 deficit down to 36-34 with less than 44 seconds left in the Region 3-A contest at The Castle. It was not until Patrick’s two free throws with 4.3 ticks left in the game clock that Great Falls could celebrate its second region win of the season. For the host Lady Knights, the setback left them with a 1-4 mark after the first go-through of 3-A play. Thanks to the Red Devils’ harried brand of play on both ends of the floor, North Central was able to mount a late-game charge. It was not until after a Haley Thomas basket closed the gap to 36-34 with 34.7 seconds left in the game did the guests finally decide to try and milk the clock.NC had five fouls to give and it took nearly 40 seconds to reach the seventh which put GF in the bonus situation with Patrick putting this game on ice.
