Yellow Jackets swat North Central, 19-9

One night after opening the regular season with a 6-4 win over Andrew Jackson, the north Central baseball team returned to Lancaster County and into Region 4-AA, only to come out on the short end of a 19-9 loss to Buford.The non-conference contest was stopped in the bottom of the sixth inning by the 10-run rule.Trailing, 5-1, after two innings, the visiting Knights used a six-run top of the third to pull ahead, 7-5. Buford answered by scoring four runs in both the third and fifth frames, sandwiching a five-run fourth to take an 18-9 lead into the top of the sixth inning.Both sides had 10 hits on the night and each stranded 10 runners on the base paths, but NC committed six errors while its four pitchers combined to walk 10 batters while hitting two others.Ryan Baker led the way for Robbie Cash’s troops with a double and two singles in four at-bats while driving in a run. J.P. Faulkenberry went 2-for-3 on the night while driving in four runs with his two singles.
