BRADWIN SALMOND RETURNS for his fourth season as a member of the Kershaw County Post 17 American Legion team.

After two nights of tryouts held earlier this week, first-year head coach Tyler Pike and assistant coaches Stephen Carmon and Jack LaFrage were paring down the roster for the 2016 Kershaw County Post 17 Senior American Legion season.

The trio of new coaches, all former Post 17 standouts, will get to see how they did with their selections when the 17ers open the season on Saturday and Sunday with three non-league games which will be played, weather permitting, at West Florence High School.

The locals will take on Hartsville Saturday at 11 a.m. and then meet Horry County at 1:30 p.m.  On Sunday, KC meets tourney host Florence in a 6 p.m. start.

Post 17 will be part of a slightly altered League III which includes Dalzell-Shaw, Manning-Santee, Orangeburg and Sumter. The five teams will play each other three times in the 12-game season which kicks off Wednesday, May 25 when Pike and company head to Manning-Santee. The home opener at American Legion Park in Camden will be played on Friday, May 27 in the second of three consecutive meetings with Manning-Santee.
