Padre Stephen
San Diego snares Camdens Carmon in 10th round of Major League Draft

It was a scene which could have been from anywhere in the country or, even, on a sitcom.Three longtime friends and former high school baseball teammates sitting on the couch in front of the TV on a Tuesday afternoon and watching a movie -- an Austin Powers selection, in this instance -- after the completion of their college classes. Here, though, is where this story takes a turn which you won’t usually see on television or, in real life, for that matter.Interrupting that day’s feature attraction is a call for Stephen Carmon, who is hanging out in Columbia at the residence of former Bulldog teammates Tyler Pike and Robert McKinney. The caller on the other end of the line instructs the former Camden High and USC-Aiken baseball standout to get to a computer and log onto the Major League Website to hear his name being called. Carmon does as instructed.
