Post 17 squads hold tryouts Monday, May 7

The James Leroy Belk Post 17 Kershaw County Senior and Junior American Legion baseball teams will both begin tryouts for the 2012 summer season on Monday, May 7 at 6 p.m. at American Legion Park on Ehrenclou Drive in Camden.The senior team is open to players age 19 and under while the junior squad is open to players ages 17 and under. There is no minimum age for trying out.Former Camden High, Post 17 and Coastal Carolina University player Craig Smith takes over the reins of the senior team this year after having coached the P-17 junior squad.The 17ers’ junior squad will be led by Rusty O'Cain, who will be assisted by former P-17 players, Andrew Ansley, Brandon Faulkenberry and Ty Robinson, graduates of Camden, North Central and Lugoff-Elgin high schools, respectively.All players wishing to try out for either team should come to the field and be prepared to begin practice at 6 p.m.
