Post 17 to meet Murrells Inlet on Tuesday
Locals need to win pair to get state tourney berth

Sumter earned a slot in the South Carolina America Legion State Baseball Tournament, which it will host, by taking its second round series with Murrells Inlet in four games.

Post 15 capped the best-of-five series with a game to spare thanks to an 18-5 win on Monday.

With Sumter having played its way into the eight-team state tournament, it leaves Kershaw County Post 17, Murrells Inlet and Horry County battling for the final spot in the tournament which opens Saturday at Riley Park in Sumter.

Post 17 will play Murrells Inlet in a first round play-in game tonight in a 7:30 p.m. at Conway High School. The winner of Tuesday's game will then play Horry County on Wednesday night at Conway High School with the winner of that game punching its ticket into the state tourney.
