Given the choice, Josh Boone would much rather have been playing in the 2018 South Carolina American Legion Baseball Tournament than watching it from the stands as a spectator last week at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia. Boone, a 2018 Lugoff-Elgin graduate and starting outfielder for the Kershaw County Post 17 American Legion baseball team the past two summers, took to the playing surface at the home of the class A Columbia Fireflies when he was honored as the recipient of the South Carolina American Legion Baseball Scholarship. Boone, who is expected to enroll and will try and walk-onto the baseball team at USC-Lancaster in the next few weeks, was selected from players who play on the Palmetto’s State’s 81 American Legion baseball squads.
