Over the second half of the season, the Camden High baseball team has received several strong performances from its pitching staff.Saturday, sophomore Sam Powers added to that impressive list as he threw a complete game shutout in a 4-0 victory over Lugoff-Elgin at Dogfest. The win avoided the Dogs’ being swept in their three-game season series with their 4A rivals.“Sam really did a great job with his curveball,” said CHS head coach Denny Beckley of Powers’ four-hitter in which he fanned two and walked a batter. “Sam has a good curveball, but he’s struggled, at times, in being consistent with it.
