Robinson's game-winning goal puts Furman in NCAA tourney

SPARTANBURG – Former Camden High standout India Robinson broke a 1-1 tie with a 28-yard strike in the 80th minute to lift the Furman women's soccer to a 3-1 victory over Elon in the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship Match Sunday afternoon at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C.The Paladins, who claimed their fifth league tournament title, also captured the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Furman will face third-seeded South Carolina in the opening round of the tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. at Stone Stadium in Columbia.With 10:22 remaining, Robinson, a junior midfielder, created space on the right wing and lined a 28-yard shot over the outstretched fingertips of Phoenix goalkeeper Kate Murphy to put Furman in front, 2-1. “I don’t even what happened,” Robinson said of her game-winning blast.
