CAMDENS SHAMIRE JACOBS BATTLES to gain control of the ball from L-E defender Kevin Fields in action from Fridays game inside the Demons Den.
Part roller derby. Part bar room brawl.Neither of those scenarios were what first-year Lugoff-Elgin head basketball coach Garrett Knight wanted to see Friday’s contest against visiting Camden become, given the visiting Bulldogs’ advantage in size and bulk. But when the officials let the two rivals play, Camden took advantage of the physical nature of the contest in dealing L-E a 56-28 loss inside the Demons Den.The Bulldogs evened their record to 1-1 while L-E fell to 0-3 in a game which came two nights after a tough, 58-52 loss to Brookland-Cayce. This L-E team, said their head coach, was a shell of the one which he saw Wednesday in Cayce.“We shied away from contact tonight,” Knight said of his young and inexperienced squad.
