17ers host Sumter in tonight's home opener

After having opened its season on Thursday night in Manning, the Kershaw County Post 17 Senior American Legion baseball team will kick off their home schedule tonight when Sumter comes to American Legion Park in Camden.Tonight’s game is set for a 7:30 p.m. start and is the only time this season that the 17ers will play in a game which does not have a 7 p.m. first pitch.The visiting P-15s are under the direction of second-year head coach Curtis Johnson, who took the Sumter post after having been the KC Post 17 head coach in 2011.Tonight’s home game is the first of three in which the locals will play over the course of the first nine games of the League III season. Post 17 returns home next Tuesday to host Manning-Santee before playing four straight road games.Season tickets for all eight Post 17 regular season home games will be on sale at the gate tonight.Juniors travel to meet Sumter tonight: While the Senior 17ers will host Sumter tonight, the KC Junior American Legion squad, which played Manning-Santee on Thursday, will hit the road tonight for a 7 p.m. start against Sumter at Riley Park.
