CHS girls win six-team XC meet

Led by three finishers in the top nine, the Camden High girls’ cross country team ran to their first win of the season by winning a six-team meet held at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site last Wednesday.Camden led the way with 44 points followed, in order, by Richland Northeast (61), Sumter (76), The Governor’s School for Science and Math (84), Westwood (101) and Lugoff-Elgin (160).Megan Goodrich paced the deep Lady Bulldog quad with a fifth-place finish, stopping the clock at 22:46. Madison Maddox of the Governor’s School for Math and Science led all runners to the finish line in a time of 22:10.Camden’s Stephanie Areford came home in eighth place with a time of 24:28 while teammate Jordan Woody, who doubles as the Bulldogs’ placekicker on Friday nights, took a break from her football duties to finish in ninth place with a time of 24:35.The Lady Bulldogs had four more finishers in the top 17 with Heather Woolard (25:05), Abigail McLaughlin (25:09) and Caroline Woodard (25:17) finishing in the 13th through 15th spots, respectively. Fanny Estrada placed 17th in a time of 25:27.L-E was led by a 25th place finish from Jenalyn Miskin (27:29).
