CHS, L-E to play in Camden Baseball Jamboree

JUNIOR SHORTSTOP RUSS RADCLIFF and Lugoff-Elgin will meet up with Westwood in Saturdays fourth game of the Camden Baseball Jamboree.
Kershaw County high school baseball fans can get a sneak peek at the 2013 Camden and Lugoff-Elgin high school varsity teams on Saturday at the Camden High School Baseball Jamboree.The annual five-game, 10-team event will be played at American Legion Park in Camden. Games will be three innings each.The contests will be three innings in length and will begin at 9 a.m. with Region 4-4A member Ridge View, which is under second-year-head coach and former Lugoff-Elgin High School assistant coach, Joe Harvley, going up against SCISA entry, Laurence Manning Academy.The 10:30 a.m. game will Fairfield Central and head coach Scottie Dean, a former assistant at Camden High School, taking on Crestwood.The noon game has Chesterfield, out of Region 3-AA taking the field against Region 4-AAA entry Dreher High School.Lugoff-Elgin, which is eyeing its second state 4A playoff berth in three seasons, will be in the 1:30 p.m. game as Randy Stokes and company will face Region 4-AAA member Westwood, a first-year program under the direction of one-time Kershaw County Post 17 American Legion head coach Curtis Johnson.The day of baseball comes to an end when Denny Beckley leads event host and 2012 AAA playoff entry Camden against Richland Northeast, a Region 4-4A program which is coached by another one-time Post 17 head coach, Thane Maness.Admission to the event is $3 per person and the concession stand will be in operation throughout the day.
