Curtain raises for the Rizers
KYLE PHILLIPS ... Rizers' center
With a roster which includes just one player who checks in at taller than 6-foot-6, Palmetto State Rizers’ head coach Harvin Council has adjusted his game plan to fit his personnel. The Rizers, a first-year American Basketball Association franchise, will kick off their first season tonight when they host the Queen City Express in a 7 p.m. contest at the Camden High gym. The remainder of their 10-game home regular season slate will be played at Camden’s E. Clarkson Rhame City Arena. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students ages seven and older and admission is free for children under seven. After 15 practices, Council said his 13-man roster of players is ready to see somebody other than their own teammates on the other end of the floor.“We’ve been pounding each other in practice,” said the former Camden High and Jacksonville University standout.
