Dogs roll past Crestwood; NC drops pair

Senior guard Josh Council scored a season-best 24 points to lead Camden to a 58-44 victory over visiting Crestwood in a Tuesday night contest played between the two former conference rivals.The Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the season heading into tonight’s home date with Lugoff-Elgin.After Council, Josh Sumpter and Delton Bradford were next in the scoring parade for Ron McKie’s charges with nine and eight points, respectively.In the girls’ game, the Lady Bulldogs fell for the first time in three outings in being tripped up by the Lady Knights, 57-30.Knights drop pair to Buford: In their first start since blowing out Robert E. Lee Academy by 31 points last Friday night, the North Central boys’ basketball team lost a 54-53 heartbreaker to host Buford on Tuesday night in Lancaster County.The loss dropped Andy Johnson’s squad to 2-3 on the season. The two sides were deadlocked at 13 after the first quarter of play before the host Yellow Jackets doubled up the guests in the second quarter, outscoring NC 18-9, to carry a 31-23 advantage into the locker room at halftime.The Knights cut the deficit by a pair, trailing 40-36 going into the final stanza in which it outscored the hosts by a 19-14 count.A pair of Knights had double-doubles on Tuesday. Junior center Kawan Hough had a 13-point, 11-rebound night while Josh Jones had 11 points to go along with 10 rebounds.Jeremy Fowler added seven points toward the Knights’ cause while teammates Brady Brister and Darius Brown had six points each.
