KC American Dixie Boys rally to stay alive

Trailing Rock Hill, 8-2, in the fourth inning in Lancaster Monday afternoon, the Kershaw County American Dixie Boys All-Stars closed the game with a 9-2 run to stave off elimination in the district tournament.The Camden-based squad closed the gap to 9-6 and then scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to complete the comeback. Devin Beckley sealed the come-from-behind win with a two-out, bases loaded, walk-off RBI single.When the Americans closed the gap to 9-6, they brought Beckley to the mound in the middle of the fifth and the right-hander struck out the side as he came on in the middle of the fourth frame. In three-inning mound stint, Beckley faced 12 batters and struck out seven.After having played one elimination game on Monday, after losing to York in Saturday’s opening round game, KC American was scheduled to have met West Wateree-based KC National in Tuesday’s 3:30 p.m. elimination contest.
