L-EMS wrestlers win conference tourney

The Lugoff-Elgin Middle School wrestling team capped off its 2014-15 season by successfully defending its championship in the second annual West Wateree Athletic Conference Tournament which was held Saturday at L-EMS. The Leopards, which finished third in the previous weekend’s Carolina Invitational, won the four-team event followed, in order, by Stover Middle, Camden Middle and Chester Middle. Ted Monroe’s championship troop received first-place finishes from Jah’Zaviah Portee (92 pounds), Jaden Robinson (107), Hunter Mathis (114), Tiyon Harriot (128), Chris Collins (147), McKenzie Barrineau (167) and heavyweight Cody Russell. Stover had a pair of champions in Randy Dinkins (100) and Gavin Calcutt (121).
