Summerville wrestles it way to MPCU Holiday Classic crown

Summerville prevented host Lugoff-Elgin from winning a second consecutive May Plant Credit Union Holiday Classic wrestling championship by winning the 36-team event which was held inside the Demons Den at Lugoff-Elgin High school last weekend.The host Demons took fifth place in its own event.Summerville, the state’s third-ranked 4A program, according to the most recent poll, took the team title in the annual event for the first time. The Green Wave were followed by 12th ranked South Pointe, number 16 York, number seven Boiling Springs with L-E, ranked eighth in the poll, rounding out the top five.The final and complete tally for the event were incomplete as of press time, due to the early Christmas holiday deadline, and will be included in the C-I as soon as official results are posted.
