Take A Child fishing tourney set for May 19

For many a year, Lib and Tommy Phillips were fixtures on Lake Wateree, working their family-owned Clearwater Cove Marina and playing host to a wide variety of fishermen and fishing tournaments.On Saturday, May 19, the 29th annual Take A Child Fishing Bass Tournament will, again, be held in memory of the popular lake residents.The tournament will begin at 6:30 a.m. and will end at noon. The cost is $30 per team of one adult and one child angler, who may not be older than 16.Trophies will be awarded to the first through 20th place child and adult teams along with the child and adult big fish winner. All expenses resulting from the holding of the tournament must be paid in prize money and the remainder of the money will be paid out to the winners.All South Carolina Department of Natural Resources rules and regulations will pertain to Saturday’s event and boaters must wear life jackets at all times while the big motor is running.All mail-in entries must be received by May 14.
