Tournament time kicks off for KC hoops and wrestling squads

Not that the gifts have been unwrapped and/or returned, the tree is being dismantled and parents are counting the days until school re-opens next week, it is time for post-Christmas tournaments for a majority of Kershaw County winters sports teams.Camden’s boys and girls teams are on the road for three-day tournaments which will kick off Thursday.The Bulldogs will play in the Golden Griffins Basketball Invitational at Fairfield Central. Ron McKie’s squad will go up against Lancaster today in Winnsboro in a tournament which benefits the fight against breast cancer.The Lady Bulldogs head to Columbia to play in the Midas Highlander Holiday Classic at Heathwood Hall. Natalie Jeffcoat’s charges drew Wilson Hall in Thursday’s opener which is slated for a 2 p.m. tip off.The remainder of the eight-team tourney field includes Westwood, Cardinal Newman, Union County, Newberry, Hilton Head and host, Heathwood Hall.The Lugoff-Elgin boys will head to the three-day Farm Bureau Classic at Chesterfield High School for the second straight year.
