If you and your team cannot be playing in the state American Legion baseball championship game, this might just be the next best thing. At the conclusion of last week’s state championship game, won by Chapin-Newberry over defending state champion Florence at Riley Park in Sumter, among the award recipients was Kershaw County Post 17 infielder Blake Serpas, who was selected by a unanimous vote of the committee to receive the 2015 South Carolina American Legion Baseball Academic Scholarship. Legree Oswald, the South Carolina American Legion State Director, made the on-field presentation to Serpas whose resume will be forwarded for consideration on both the regional and national American Legion levels.
