Singleton wins Rimington Trophy for FCS schools

WOFFORDS JARED SINGLETON EARNED the highest honor which an NCAA FCS center can receive when the Lugoff native was named winner of the 2013 Rimington Trophy.
SPARTANBURG -- Jared Singleton of Wofford College headlined the 2013 Rimington Trophy winners for the FCS, DII, DIII and NAIA divisions. The award winners are selected by Jason Dannelly, founder of the Victory Sports Network and longtime writer of football in non-FBS divisions as part of the continued tradition of one of College Football's most prestigious awards.Singleton, a former standout and four-year starter at Lugoff-Elgin High School, is the Rimington Award winner for the FCS Division. A three-time All-Southern Conference honoree, Singleton started 27 consecutive games at center over the past three seasons and a total of 37 starts in his four-year career with the Terriers.Singleton earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Wofford earlier this month.Singleton a 6-foot-2, 309-pound senior center and finance major, earned first team All-SoCon honors from the league’s football coaches and was a second team choice in voting performed by the conference’s media members.A 2009 graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School, Singleton started 27 consecutive games at center over the past three seasons for the Terriers.
