Smoak has winning debut as CHS girls stop Sumter

Camden presented first-year girls’ head tennis coach Pamela Smoak with her first victory as the Lady Bulldogs opened their season by knocking off visiting 5A rival Sumter, 5-1, in a match played on the Roger Smoak Tennis Courts at CHS. A strong gathering of fans turned out for the opening match in which the hostesses won second through fifth singles along with second doubles. Sumter took first singles with Whitney Crawford stopping Imani Wyatt, 6-2, 6-3. It was all Camden from there as Anne Margaret Hutto handed Jordan Shuping a 6-2, 6- 1 defeat at second singles.
