Camden Country Club netters bring home a USTA state championship
THE CAMDEN COUNTRY CLUB 10-and-under intermediate tennis team finished off a hot and grueling weekend on the courts in Florence by bringing home a state championship and a berth inthe USTA Southern tourney in Cayce next month. Using a one-point win over the Woodland Warriors in Sunday’s finals, the Camden Country Club 10-and-under intermediate tennis team finished off a perfect weekend in capturing the USTA South Carolina Junior Team Tennis State Championship. The team, led by head coach Kevin Jackson and assisted by Wendy Kingsley, finished off a perfect 4-0 weekend in the event hosted at the Floyd Tennis Center in Florence. By virtue of their 28-27 win over the team from Woodland Country Club, the local entry will be one of nine teams from the Palmetto State which will head to the Cayce Tennis Center in Lexington to compete in the USTA Southern Junior Team Tennis Sectional Championships to be contested on Aug. 21-23.
