Mother Nature must be a football fan. How else can you explain the dip in temperatures which occurred just in time for the start of pre-season football practice in Kershaw County last Friday.
All three Kershaw County high school varsity football teams began preseason practice last Friday and will have a week before meeting up with someone wearing a different uniform as Camden, Lugoff-Elgin and North Central kick off a series of two pre-season scrimmages. They will close out their pre-season slates by taking part in the 39th annual Camden Shrine Club Football Jamboree which will be played on Friday, Aug. 15 at Zemp Stadium in Camden.
Since all three county teams play Week Zero opening games on Aug. 22, including Camden traveling to meet rival Lugoff-Elgin, they will only play two scrimmages and one jamboree before playing their first regular season contest.
The scrimmages are free and open to the public. Tickets for the Camden Shrine Club Football Jamboree are $6 and will be on sale at the gates the night of the event.
