(Camden, S.C.) sports editorCall it summer school.Last week, the younger players on the Kershaw County Post 17 American Legion baseball team got an education.First off, KC played a Tuesday game some 18 hours after having returned from an 11-inning Monday night contest in Orangeburg. That, said first-year P-17 head coach Craig Smith, introduced his squad to the “Legion grind.” The second block class came Thursday in a 10-2 loss to visiting West Columbia, which came to American Legion Park with just nine players. In this case, nine was more than enough, especially considering that Post 79 trotted out Newberry College pitcher Wesley Camp and then, closed in the ninth inning with his college teammate, Tanner Petrey.
