In the year leading up to our past presidential election, I would often tell my children -- especially the ones of voting age -- being in the know about current events had never carried more weight than it did in that moment. They are forming their own opinions about the important issues, and our conversations on politics, religion, our economy and the like has taken on new life which is proving to be quite refreshing. Much of what they have learned and continue to grasp in present news comes predominantly from their life experiences, discussions with friends and family, and from plenty of reading.
