Cahn: A nation of immigrants and refugees

In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris a week ago, and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, or ISIS) taking credit for the horror, many countries began rethinking their policies for taking in refugees from certain African and Middle Eastern countries. European government leaders are concerned especially with refugees from Syria, which -- according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees -- make up 52 percent of those refugees trying to reach European countries by sea. And at least one of the Paris attackers may have entered France with Syrian refugees.
