Abortion has rarely been easy to talk about. The present cultural upheaval about what was thought to be settled law; namely, Roe v Wade (1973), where the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution protects a pregnant woman’s right to have an abortion without excessive government restriction, remains symptomatic of a seemingly intractable public divide. States are still fighting government funding for abortion, for Planned Parenthood, and for access.
