February is Black History Month. In celebration, the Camden Archives and Museum has mounted a new exhibit entitled “Through the Camera’s Eye: A Photographic Portrait of Camden’s African American Community.” The first practical photographic process was invented by 1838 and announced at a meeting of the French Academy of Sciences in January of 1839. The process known as a “daguerrotype” was the prevalent photographic process until the late 1850s.
