The last of the Five Freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution -- the freedom to petition the government for a redress of grievances -- is one of the least known or understood. Based on the 2017 Annenberg Constitution Day Civics Survey, only 3 percent of Americans were able to name the freedom to petition as one the First Amendment rights.
