The best news from the past week is that South Carolina finally reached the elusive 50 percent mark, with half of people ages 12 and up vaccinated against COVID-19. More good news: The Charleston County School District Board of Trustees voted to require masks, send kids home who refuse to comply and -- unlike Richland 1 and other districts with mask requirements -- use reserve funds to enforce the mandate, which the S.C. Supreme Court says schools are free to do.
