At the time of this writing it is late September. The stores around here have already pulled out all the Halloween stuff, and a couple of my neighbors have their front yards already adorned with scary giant spiders (and their webs), Day-Glo skeletons, and plastic bats hanging from crape-myrtle trees. One house has a giant inflated black plastic cat, whose big-eyed head turns ominously.
