South Carolina is poised to be a big player in determining the 2020 Democratic presidential contender. With the Palmetto State’s primary set to be in February 2020 before March Super Tuesday primaries across the country, South Carolina will be the first primary state where candidates will face off among a diverse blend of voters. Iowa and New Hampshire, the mostly white states that kick off the presidential process, don’t have the diversity that characterizes South Carolina and most of the rest of the nation.
