In 1905, Kirkland and Kennedy had completed the “Old Testament” of local history with the publication of Historic Camden, Colonial and Revolutionary, Volume One. Twenty years later the “New Testament” of local history was completed when they wrote Historic Camden, Nineteenth Century, Volume Two. For about 100 years Historic Camden, Volumes One and Two served as the “Bible” of local history.
