Often during my early years here at the Chronicle-Independent, I sat for many hours in the main courtroom of the Kershaw County Courthouse. Most of the time, I was allowed to sit in the grand jury box, separate from the public, so that I could have a good view (and better chance of hearing things) during bond hearings, criminal trials, and even a few civil proceedings.
