My colleague, Ricky Good, said, “Katherine, I wouldn’t write that article -- there are too many descendants here.” My rationale is that they need to know what Charles Woodmason said about Camden (and its people), even though he may not have liked their ancestors one bit! Truth be told, when one analyzes Charles Woodmason’s writings as a whole, you can’t really be offended by what he said about people in the Backcountry of South Carolina, because he simply couldn’t help himself.
