There are times when folks ask me questions about NASCAR and I find myself at a loss for words -- which is the rarest of occurrences, believe me -- and then there are other times when folks ask me questions about NASCAR, and I can’t say enough. The Coca-Cola 600, run each year on Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, is one of those times. More of an endurance contest than a race, the Coca-Cola 600 -- or simply “the 600,” as most industry types like to call it -- serves as a showcase for some of the team and driver attributes we forget about during shorter, beating-and-banging-style events, things like patience, fortitude and strategic thinking.
