Extracurricular programs help shape lives

In celebration of 100 years of shaping the lives of young women, Girl Scouts will reveal a new smile-shaped confection. The powdered sugar-dusted lemon cookie, called “Savannah Smile,” honors Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low’s birthplace of Savannah, Ga. Selling cookies is just one part of being a Girl Scout; these girls work year-round learning about the arts, science, culture and self-respect. They take camping trips, volunteer and participate in hundreds of other badge-worthy life experiences all before high school graduation.
