The eerie cry can be heard on Lake Wateree on many foggy and misty spring nights. In colonial times, Liberty Hill was part of the Beaver Creek area, which before and after the American Revolution would become one of the most economically successful areas in the nation and would also produce individuals both famous and infamous. The American Revolution pitted family against family and the “Bloody'” Cunningham Tory fighting unit made up of mostly fighters from the Beaver Creek area was one of the most brutal and feared.
