Each year, the first week of May is Goodwill Week. This week is a time to recognize the people in the community that make Goodwill’s work possible and celebrate Goodwill’s long history of putting people back to work, which began when Methodist minister Edgar Helms founded Goodwill Industries in Boston in 1902. Reverend Helms had an idea that unwanted household items could be donated and sold to people who needed them.
