Passing time with good folks

If you are over 50 years old, or were raised in a small Southern community or “from these parts,” then you may have a better appreciation of this story than others would. For several years through an association of our kids, our family got to spend a good many summer weekends with some good folks from Dillon, S.C. I smiled when I saw them coming. The usual greeting would be, "Hello, Mr. Buster, how are you and Miss Kathy today?'' In the Southern manner, a lady is always “Miss so and so” even if she has been happily married 50 years.
