Tatum: Darwin is watching

I recently read a news item about a guy, described as an amateur scientist, who has been keeping extremely venomous snakes and goading them into biting him as part of an ongoing home research project into snakebite vaccine. In fact, he has allowed his snakes, including a couple of rattlers, cobras, a taipan and black mamba, to bite him something like 160 times during the past several years. The idea, he says, is to develop an immunity which could eventually be developed into a vaccine.
